Traces of Clouds and Fingernails

Traces of Clouds and Fingernails is a grassroots, independent exhibition project presenting the work of thirteen Polish women artists of the same generation. Born between 1986 and 1994, they are actively engaged in the art world, professionally established, and artistically distinct. While they differ in medium and technique, they are united by attentiveness, awareness, and a shared drive to operate beyond established frameworks. The exhibition is structured into three distinct sections—areas that the artists collectively dismantle by disrupting visual codes deeply embedded in culture. THE FEMALE BODY Presenting forms that resist representation, instead exposing the meanings imposed upon them and the stereotypes that accumulate around them. Agata Przyżycka, Maria Iciak, Justyna Jędrzejewska, Małgorzata Kalinowska FORM Examined with suspicion as a supposedly “neutral” carrier of meaning. Marta Koniarska, Alicja Pruchniewicz, Katarzyna Rutkowska, Olga Truszkowska, Marta Wawrzynowicz NATURE Approached not as an autonomous order, but as a space of cultural projection and intervention. Agnieszka Gotowała, Aneta Lewandowska, Paulina Rega, Agata Żychlińska Each artist reveals something we tend to take for granted: aesthetics as neutrality, the body as a vessel of identity, nature as harmony. Presented together in this configuration, their works allow us to trace the marks of artistic decisions—formal, strategic, and emotional. This collective and deliberate act of demystification is not intended to uncover a single truth, but rather to disarm a mechanism that operates within visual culture at the level of habit. The exhibition reveals how images are constructed, how form operates, and how culture shapes the ways in which bodies, emotions, and environments are represented. Participating artists: Agnieszka Gotowała, Maria Iciak, Justyna Jędrzejewska, Małgorzata Kalinowska, Marta Koniarska, Aneta Lewandowska, Alicja Pruchniewicz, Agata Przyżycka, Paulina Rega, Katarzyna Rutkowska, Olga Truszkowska, Marta Wawrzynowicz, Agata Żychlińska Curator: Daga Ochendowska The exhibition is a grassroots artistic initiative realised with the support of Bulvary and forms part of this year’s programme of the Night of Museums 2025 in Wrocław.
